Real Reference Questions I Have Heard

"What percentage of Canadian veterinarians believe that animals have souls?" (It seems that someone actually did this sort of statistical analysis re: British veterinarians.)

I think we get fewer wacky questions at an academic library than you lucky public librarians, but here are my two favourites:

1) I'd like to find pictures of the apostles - preferably taken during their lifetime

2) I need a scholarly article on how reindeer fly (and, yes, we actually found one!)

A colleague got another question about finding research on cross-breeding humans with other species (apparently this guy wasn't aware of the requirement for getting institutional ethics approval prior to starting a research study). That one gave us the heebie-geebies for weeks!

Hmmm...I'd be interested to know what percentage of physicians think people have souls, too.

If there's any kind of animal DNA getting shared, but not in some gross way, I call "squirrel fur"! (At least now that it's snowing, I do.)

I love that 'pictures of the apostles' question. It's soooo out there. The human brain is a fascinating thing.
